Milan Fashion Week is known for delivering sexy, fresh make up looks and gorgeous hairstyles that are perfect to recreate at home for spring and summer. Take inspiration from these outstanding beauty looks that are hot off the Milan runways.
Pearly Shine At Giorgio Armani
It is hard to look past the beautiful pearly sheen that went from the lid to the temple of the models at Giorgio Armani, making their faces illuminate with an almost ethereal glow. Coupled with a sexy cat-eye eyeliner flick this make up look is definitely one of our favourites from Milan Fashion Week.
International make-up artist, Linda Cantello says about creating this light inspired look for the show:
“A new focus on light – a unique mother of pearl sheen on eyes swept into temples, along with iridescent liner softened with shades of aqua, contrasts with matte skin and wet effect lips to create a new take on the Armani glow.”
Low Ponytails With A Twist At Moschino Cheap & Chic
Spring and summer is definitely the time to have some fun with your beauty look, which is why we love the out there accessories that spiced up the low pony tails at the Moschino Cheap & Chic Show. Matching the collections colourful fruit and vegetable prints, pieces of straw and large fake strawberries were tied around the models ponytails. We wont be adding pieces of straw to our hair anytime soon, but a cute ribbon or bow could definitely add that something extra to your everyday ponytail.
Pantene Pro-V’s Global Stylist Ambassador, Sam McKnight tells us how to get the look:
- Start with freshly washed and conditioned hair to create the perfect base.
- Work Pro-V Body Builder Mousse into the roots of the hair while still damp and blow-dry smooth using a flat bristle brush, concentrating on building volume at the roots by lifting hair vertically from the head.
- Once completely dry, gather the hair into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck and secure with a snag-free elastic, then loop the ponytail back on itself and tie the end of the tail into the base of the original pony, securing the loop in place, with a couple of inches of hair ends splaying out.
- Next, use your fingers to fan out the hair in the loop and pull free a small section of the hair from the ponytail so that it falls loose.
- Take a long length (approx. 50cm) of good quality thick, shiny black ribbon and tie it around the base of the ponytail in a bow with large loops, and secure tightly in a double knot. Alternatively, to recreate the edgier, catwalk-inspired look, replace the ribbon with a sheaf of straw-like raffia or even a strawberry instead!
Sexy vs. Innocent Eyes At Marni
The sexy flick of thick, tan coloured eyeliner at Marni was given an open-eyed innocent edge with white eyeliner drawn into the lower lash line. Try complimenting a cat-flick of dark eyeliner with white eyeliner on the inside of the lower lash line to make you eyes appear larger than they are.
Rescu. Loves: Spice up your make up look by creating a cat flick with Napoleon Perdis’ China Doll Gel Eyeliner in Copper ($32). You will stand out from everyone who plays it safe with the usual black liner.

Spanish Beauty At Missoni
The relaxed, slightly dishevelled hair from the Missoni show reminded us of what a Spanish beauty would look like after a long night of dancing and romance. It complimented the vibrant colours of the collection perfectly. We are definitely going to don this do’ when we go out on a hot summer night.
Wella Professionals Global Artistic Director, Eugene Souleiman says about creating this gorgeous hair look:
“I wanted to create tension between the hair and the clothing, to inject it with a rawness that would capture the passion and sensuality of a beautiful young Missoni woman at the end of a hot summer night. So I took the idea of a traditional, slick Spanish look with a perfect side-parting and hair smoothed back over the ears and sculpted into a neat bun, and deconstructed it to create a ‘roughed up’, dishevelled effect and a slightly dirtier end-of-the-night texture.”
Bold Brows At Alberta Ferretti
Thick, dark brows are so on trend at the moment and they were on full display at Alberta Ferretti. Complimenting the long, flowing hair beautifully, the rest of the make up was softened so they made even more of a statement. Try the neutral make up and bold brow combo over spring for a strong yet simple beauty look.

Rope-Like Braids at Antonio Marras
We are always searching for a new braid to try and the rope-like braid from Antiono Marras is definitely one you don’t see everyday. The dramatic contrast of the large braid adorning the head with the smooth sheen of the rest of the hair is very glamorous and chic.
Wella Professionals Global Artistic Director, Eugene Souleiman, tells us how to create the rope-like braid look at home:
Step 1: Sectioning – Part 1
Use a sectioning comb to create a razor sharp side-parting, all the way back to the crown. Take the section of hair from the large side of the parting on the top of the head (leaving the small side below the parting and the back for the head from the crown free) and spray with Wella Professionals Flexible Finish Spray at the roots of the hair until the hair is absolutely wet , then brush through creating tension in the hair and secure tightly into a pony tail high on the side of the head using a snag free elastic. Spray the pony tail with Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight to create a shine and even texture to the pony tail.
Step 2: Sectioning – Part 2
Take the remaining hair from the side of the parting and the back of the head and saturate the roots with hair spray and brush through with a soft bristle brush. Pull the hair toward the high pony tail and create a second pony tail just below the high one, then bind the two pony tails together with snag free elastic. Spray Shimmer Delight spray into the ponytail. Ensure that the hair on the back and side of the head is clean and shiny, and wraps around the head as if wrapping the head in a piece of silk fabric.
Step 3: Rope Twist – Part 1
Divide the ponytail into two equal sections and twist each section individually before wrapping them around each other along the full length to create a rope-like braid, spraying generously as you go. Secure the end tightly with a snag free elastic.
Step 4: Rope Twist – Part 2
Next pull the rope twist over the top of the head, creating a tiara-like sculpture. Pull the end of the twist diagonally down to the nape of the neck, finishing on the opposite side to the top knot of the rope. Using hair pins, pin the rope twist into place. Soak the end of ponytail with Wella Professionals Sculpt Force Flubber Gel and tease the hair to blend perfectly with the hair at the back of the head for a seamless finish.
Glowing Goddess at Versace
The models at Versace were a-glow with gorgeous earthy tones that are a perfect alternative to charcoals and blacks for spring/summer. The radiant, flawless complexion, which is a huge trend off the international runways at the moment, made the shading around the eyes and glowing cheeks look even more beautiful.
