Alex Perry Myer Rumours
Fash-pack history has proven time and time again that a fashion show’s seating plan is a veritable breeding ground for gossip and controversy.
At the Myer Spring/Summer 2013/14 fashion show last night, it wasn’t a huffy celebutante’s behaviour drawing in the front-row stares, but the simple presence of a designer by the name of Alex Perry…
The controversy, of course, lies in the fact that the affable Alex Perry ‘s contract, which runs out in April, is with Myer’s number one rival David Jones.
His appearance as celebrity alongside fellow Australia’s Next Top Model judges Charlotte Dawson and Didier Cohen wouldn’t have normally rated a mention, but earlier in the day, Alex had confirmed he was a guest of Bernie Brookes, Myer’s chief executive officer, and was seen being personally escorted to his A-list seat by none other than the Myer boss himself.
Alex Perry is one of the biggest players in the David Jones family of designers but this appearance has tongues wagging. Stay tuned!
Beyoncé’s New Hair
Yesterday Beyonce revealed something we absolutely were not expecting – a brand new, and very bold hair cut.
The star debuted her pixie cut on Instagram yesterday and instantly Twitter was a flurry with divided opinions on the look. Some fans called it fierce, others wrong, and one (@kirstyscarott) getting it right when she said, “Beyoncé with long hair, short hair or even if she went bald, she would still look 100x better than us all.”
The bold new pixie cut comes along with a colour change. Bey’s gone lighter with her locks but maintained darker brows and roots, giving the cut more vibrancy.
Colourist Rita Hazan, who was the woman behind the clever colour, told Fashionista, “When I saw her cut, I knew the colour had to be soft but powerful. She wanted to keep her natural color as a grown out look with roots to give it an edge But, she allowed me creative freedom, which is amazing for a colorist to be able to do especially on a superstar like Beyonce. And she lets me get to the end result in my own way, which here was a beautiful champagne blonde.”
Of Bey’s reaction she said, “She loved it and I think she felt really beautiful (‘cause she is really beautiful!).”
Long or short, Bey is undoubtedly fierce but we have to admit, we prefer Bey with her full mane. We do love a risk-taker though!
Tom Waterhouse Nabs $110 Million
It seems, as they say, that the rich are only getting richer!
Today it was revealed that Tom Waterhouse’s controversial online betting business, TomWaterhouse.com, was sold to UK sports betting giant William Hunt for up to $110 million.
The company has paid a cool $34 million up front for the business and is taking $6 million in liabilities. Waterhouse also has a potential additional earn-out of up to $70 million to look forward to banking.
As hard as it is for us everyday earners to even comprehend that sort of money, word is Waterhouse was actually expecting to make an even larger sum. It is said the bookmaker was seeking up to $100m for a 50% stake in the business.
Earlier this year Tom Waterhouse caused a stir after his Channel Nine appearances and the growth of bookies promoting betting odds during games. In an open letter to fans in The Daily Telegraph, Waterhouse announced his intentions to step back, saying, “I am sorry. I have listened to the PM and Australia and have made the call with Channel 9 to dramatically cut back on my advertising from tonight.”
We’re sure this news is cause for Waterhouse to get his dancing shoes back on… remember this?
