The American Music Awards 2013 tooks place in LA today, Whitney Port got engaged during her stay in Australia, and Kate Peck is the new ambassador for Myer.

Wearing a traditional Japanese dress and joined by a host of dancers, Katy Perry opened the American Music Awards at the Nokia Theatre in LA today with a performance of her latest single, ‘Unconditionally’.
Afterwards, Pitfull to kick things off with an intro sharing popular dances throughout the years of American music history before the awards got underway.
Taylor Swift, who looked incredible in a gold mini dress, presented the first award to Justin Timberlake who took out the Favourite Pop/Rock Male award. Given that the AMAs are an entirely fan-voted ceremony, it was only fitting that Timberlake thanked his fans, saying, “…everyone who took to their Twitter and got busy, this means so much to me, thank you.” Timberlake became a regular stage presence, scoring five awards including Favourite Soul/R&B Male Artist and Favourite Soul/R&B Album.
Rihanna was another big winner on the night, being honored with the Favourite Soul/R&B Female Artist award, and the first-ever Icon Award. The pop superstar also performed on the night, before her mum took to the stage with a sweet speech in which she said, “Tonight I applaud and admire you for being so strong and so positive and so humble and so focused…. I’m so blessed to be part of this historic moment.”
And it just wouldn’t be a Music Awards ceremony without a heap of awards and a gushy speech from Taylor Swift. The star took out five awards including the Favorite Country Album Award for ‘Red’ and said, “I cannot believe what you’ve done in the last year. This album came out almost exactly a year ago and the fact that 6 million of you went out and bought it is crazy.”
Single of the Year was one of the shock wins of the night, with Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ being topped by Florida Georgia Line and Nelly for ‘Cruise’.
Naturally, there were plenty of performances to break up the awards with some of the highlights being from One Direction who proved they actually have some serious vocal talent with a stripped-down performance of ‘Story of My Life’. Nelly also performed his vintage hit ‘Ride Wit Me’ after bringing the award winning ‘Cruise’ to the stage with Florida Georgia Line. Other performers included Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, and TLC.
Whiteney Port Engaged
Over the weekend, 28-year-old Whitney Port took to her Instagram to share the exciting news that she was engaged.
The reality star spilled that her fiancé, TV Producer Tim Rosenman, surprised her in their hotel room while she was in Australia, saying, “I was very surprised. We were in Australia. I was working out there and brought him along because he’d never been, and he decided to do it out there. He was planning the whole ordeal – like possibly taking out a boat and doing this whole thing on the harbor, and then the day before we were leaving it was really rainy and grey and cold. So everything went down the drainpipe there. So he just did it in our hotel room, he asked me really low key.”
The ring, a large oval with three rows of diamonds on a rose-gold band, is nothing short of incredible.
The pair have been dating just over a year after meeting on the set of The City where he was an associated producer.
As luck would have it, Port has a friend to plan with — the news comes just a month after her once co-star Lauren Conrad announced her engagement to William Tell!

Kate Peck for Myer
MTV VJ and television personality Kate Peck can add ‘Myer ambassador’ to her already-impressive CV. The gorgeous star is set to represent the Myer brand nationally across their fashion and racing activity, and will be involved with community initiatives, in-store events, and brand launches.
Kate will be working alongside Jennifer Hawkins, Kris Smith, Laura Dundovic, and Lauren Phillips, who has just re-signed in her role for a further 12 months, in this new role for which her first appearance will be to launch the Christmas Pop Up Shop in the Melbourne CBD on December 2nd.
Of the collaboration, Kate said, “I am incredibly excited to have signed with Myer and am looking forward to bringing my experiences in fashion and presenting to my role as an ambassador. I have always loved the Myer brand and its strong stable of Australian designers and brands and it is an honour to join them during this exciting period.”
We can’t wait to see the fruits of this new signing and continue to watch Kate Peck’s star rise!
