Fashion Surprises At VMA Ceremony
The fashion at the VMAs is always designed to excite – it’s the chance for the music industry to really show its stuff.
After all, this is the ceremony where Lil Kim once showed up in a jumpsuit and a matching nipple pasty.
Normally, all eyes would have been on the ladies who paraded their unusual ensembles: Katy Perry in pink hair and (actually very cute) Atelier Versace, Nicki Minaj in a Japanese-inspired train-to-end-all-trains, and Lady Gaga in costume (all night) as her scruffy male alter ego Joe Calderone.
Otherwise it was a night for black – Zoe Saldana, Selena Gomez and several other singers all chose the shade.
But one diva stole the show, fashionably and otherwise.
Beyonce showed up with the most exciting accessory on the red carpet – a visible baby bump under her orange flowing Lanvin gown.
Now that, Gagas et al, is how a true star steals the limelight.

Sofia Coppola’s Wedding Dress
The daughter of Francis Ford Coppola, and acclaimed director in her own right, Sofia Coppola married last week – and her dress is pretty much as different from Kim Kardashian’s as is humanely possible.
While Kardashian went for the traditional strapless-long-train route, Coppola went to Azzedine Alaia for her custom-made gown.
Renowned for his avant-garde designs, Alaia produced a lavender gown with a subtle print and small cap sleeves, in a translucent material with a 1950s silhouette.
She also wore no veil, while Kardashian wore a headdress made of diamonds by Lorraine Schwartz.
Which one would you rather wear at your nuptials?

Iman: ‘I’m Absolutely Done With Modelling’
The gorgeous model spouse of David Bowie was one of the first black supermodels.
However, Iman has stated definitively that she will never model again.
She stopped in 1989, and says she’s never been to a fashion show since. “I’m done,” she told Fashionista.
The reason? “Because I worked with literally every designer. So when I stopped… there was no way I could do one and not do the other.”
And then, of course, there is the fashion industry itself. “I know my industry very well; they will say, ‘Oh, poor her, she wants to come back.’ Come on, I know fashion people. The reason I lasted this long is because I’m not around them all the time!”
She’s now designing exclusive handbags and accessories for the Home Shopping Network in the USA, for under $300.

Miss Australia ‘Accidentally’ Insulted Jennifer Hawkins
After a disastrous interview in which she was reported to have said Jennifer Hawkins ‘indulged in too much plastic surgery’, Miss Australia Scherri-Lee Biggs is now trying to make amends.
The interview was reported in the UK tabloid The Daily Mail, which has in the past paid out numerous sums to stars claiming their words were doctored or invented.
Biggs is standing by her claim that she never accused Hawkins, who won Miss Universe in 2004, of going “that little bit too far” to achieve perfection.
She took to Twitter to say that she ‘never said that’ and that ‘journalists are very sneaky’. She is now trying to contact Hawkins’ management to apologise.
Biggs is now in San Paolo to compete for the Miss Universe title. Rescu. will bring you all the gossip as her competition continues – including whether or not Hawkins accepts the apology. Thank heavens Miss Universe gets some media training.

Selita Ebanks ‘Bruised’ By Victoria’s Secret Diamond Underwear
Selita Ebanks, who has starred in Kanye West videos and is a Victoria’s Secret Angel, opened up to the press this week that the ensembles worn on the famous Victoria’s Secret catwalk are actually profoundly uncomfortable.
Her particular outfit was sewn with diamonds and other jewels worth $4.5 million, but she said she was more preoccupied with pain than worry.
She described walking down the catwalk as “walking and scraping”, and confirmed that, yes, those diamonds hurt.
The results? Bruises and scratches, according to Ebanks.
Victoria’s Secret had no comment on her remarks, but the model Ebanks was wearing is obviously not commercially available.
