We chat to Christina Butcher of Hair Romance about her new ebook, 30 Braids in 30 Days and Bobbi Brown has launched it’s first ever pop up shop!
Following Hair Romance’s first ebook, 30 Hairstyles in 30 Days, Christina Butcher has announced the release of her second ebook, 30 Braids in 30 Days, and Rescu. just can’t get enough!
Rescu. chatted with Christina about the inspiration for the book and her favourite braids for every occassion.
In your second ebook, 30 Braids in 30 Days, you’ve taken us well beyond the school-girl plait to sophistication and street-chic, what was your inspiration for the ebook?
Christina Butcher: I love how versatile braids can be. You only need to know a few basic steps and you can create endless styles. I set myself a hairstyle challenge to create 30 looks, but there are so many more looks you can do with braids. My ebook explains all the basics so you can design your own looks too.
For all the braid beginners out there, how should we prep our hair, so it’s manageable but still looks silky smooth when plaited?
Christina Butcher: A few drops of serum can go a long way. It makes your hair smooth and easy to braid, and when it dries, it leaves your hair with a beautiful texture. We’re getting into the summer season now, what braid do suggest is best to keep us cool, but still turn up the heat! If you’ve got long hair, a side fishtail braid is the perfect look for summer. Don’t forget to stretch out the sides of the braid for a fun, beach-y finish.
What’s your favourite braid to take us from office to the bar?
Christina Butcher: Day 13 is a chic upstyle that works for both day and night. Braids also give great waves and texture to your hair. So you can wear your hair a braid in the day and let it out into flowing waves for after work.
What’s the best way to keep our braid tight and together all day long?
Christina Butcher: Pins are your secret weapon. Use bobby pins or fringe pins to secure the braid and you’ll look chic all day.
What braids will most suit the girl with the bob/ curly hair/ long hair/ thick hair/ fine hair?
Christina Butcher: My ebook has tips and variations for every braid so you can customise them to suit your hair. I love Day 10 and Day 22 for curls to play up the natural texture in your hair. Bobs look fabulous with waterfall braids like Day 2 and Day 16. Long hair is stunning in fishtails like Day 19 and ring braids like Day 17. For fine hair, Day 26 is my favourite fringe braid, and Day 23 is a fun weekend braid that’s perfect for fine hair.
30 Braids in 30 Days id available from https://www.hairromance.com/30-braids-30-days and costs $14.95.
