It hasn’t been the balmiest first week of Summer, but that hasn’t stopped us mentally packing our bags for that most glorious of luxuries- the Summer holiday. Whether you’re loading up the car to escape to the beach, or jetting off somewhere spectacular, our fashion run-down this week has something suitably gorgeous to sneak into your suitcase. From ELKE‘s new season collection, to Longchamp‘s Spring campaign starring Alexa Chung, as well as an exciting announcement by Nasty Gal, and some much appreciated tips from Mr Porter.

ELKE New Season Campaign
ELKE’s new season campaign dropped this week, and once again she has knocked it out of the (perfectly manicured and exquisitely styled) park. A collaboration between Elke’s partner Christopher Morris and stylist Dave Bonney, the campaign vibes effortlessly with the inspiration behind the collection- the duality and unity of love.
If you think the campaign sounds romantic, wait until you see it! The Moonstruck Monsoon SS13/14 collection fuses earthy and luxurious material to create a dramatic story- the colour palette is a combination of resins in ‘storm white,’ ‘midnight sea’ and ‘blood concrete.’ This season, ELKE has also created a series of silk scarves featuring artworks that feature gorgeous contrasting colours and mock stone textures. Seriously gorgeous- we’re gonna use ours as a headscarf Audrey Hepburn style, as well as smartly knotted around a roomy tote.
The new styles are available in stores, as well as ELKE’s online store now.

Alexa Chung for Longchamp
Alexa has been announced as the face of French luxury label Longchamp, and the recently released images of the 2014 Spring campaign have us wanting to take off a Mediterranean holiday and never come back! After the signing of Kate Moss in 2006, and more recently, Coco Rocha, the choice of Alexa Chung is indicative of the brand’s desire to capture the youthful spirit of the fashionable tastemakers of today.
Shot in St. Tropez, the campaign captures the relaxed glamour that Chung is infamous for; she traipses down cobbled streets in flats and breezy silk shifts, and lounges languorously atop a baby blue mini convertible. Also to look forward to; a film shot by French director Jean-Francois Julian that captures Alexa Chung breathlessly running through the streets of Saint Tropez will be released in February 2014.
Marie-Sabine Leclercq, Head of Global Communications at Longchamp, explains:
“Longchamp is defined by its vision of optimistic luxury. We intend luxury to be part of the everyday life of an active, dynamic, cosmopolitan woman – a woman who loves fashion, but is not a fashion victim. Alexa Chung totally represents that vision. She is smart, sparkling, stylish – the ultimate embodiment of the movement and energy that are at the heart of Longchamp.”
Alexa sure knows how to make a bag look good- can we take the car too?

Nasty Gal Coming To Aus in 2014
Cult label and online retailer Nasty Gal has announced that they will hit Australian shores early next year- sure to be welcome news for every nice girl’s inner punk princess. Beginning on eBay as a marketplace for one-of-a-kind vintage clothing, the brand is now one of the fastest growing e-tailers on the United States, with a ‘Nasty Gal Collection’ released in 2012 and ‘Shoe Cult by Nasty Gal’ in August this year.
Inspired by the song ‘Nasty Gal’ by Betty Davis, founder Sophia Amoruso has also gained notoriety for her brand’s innovative use of social media on the cusp of the emerging digital retail age. Fashion visionary as well as internet entrepreneur, Sophia began her business by using social media to build awareness before such practices became the norm. Her recently announced book: #GirlBoss: How to Write Your Own Rules While Turning Heads and Turning Profits is set to chronicle how she created an online atmosphere that maintains a quirky edge, yet still attracts a wide range of shoppers.
Sophia explains:
“Nasty Gal is inclusive, but also cool. A lot of companies make the mistake of being one or the other.”
To date, Nasty Gal counts over 980,000 Facebook fans, 139,000 Twitter followers, 968,000 Instagram followers, 66,000 Pinterest followers, and 128,000 Tumblr followers as part of their rapidly growing cult following. Wow.
