His hit with best friend Kanye West, No Church in the Wild, was the perfect backdrop for the sumptuous trailer for Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby but now it seems Jay-Z has an even bigger part in the much-anticipated film’s soundtrack.
US producer and songwriter, The Bullitts, let the tweet out of the bag posting, “Jay-Z and myself have been working tirelessly on the score for the upcoming #CLASSIC ‘The Great Gatsby. It is too DOPE for words!”
Luhrmann is no stranger to using modern music in period films – his adaptation of Romeo & Juliet famously featured Radiohead amongst other major contemporary artists and in Moulin Rouge 1900s France was back with hits from Madonna amongst others.
This time, it sounds like he’s taking it one step further, not just repositioning popular tracks but having Jay-Z provide an original score for the film.

After scoring an Emmy nomination, being re-made as 60s model Twiggy for Entertainment Weekly and scoring herself a $3.5 million book deal, the star has now been shot by arguably the coolest photographer on the planet, Terry Richardson, for V Magazine.
In the shoot, Lena wears Prada, Calvin Klein and Michael Kors amongst other huge designers. 2012 was a huge year for this indie kid but it seems like 2013 could be even bigger…
Speculation about who will star in the racy leading role in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey has been rife since for months now and the most recent word amongst the fan polls and the Hollywood grapevine is that the coveted gig could be going to Aussie Chris Hemsworth.
The doting dad was asked back in May whether or not he would want to play suave, sexy Christian Grey and he said he wasn’t sure but the film, which is said to be set for release in 2015, would be sure to give his profile an enormous boost.
Meanwhile, Chris’s wife and Spanish actress Elsa Pataky has been showing off her cute new pixie cut. We love!
