Kate Waterhouse Pregnant
Kate Waterhouse fathered her closest friends and family at The Grounds in Alexandria over the weekend for her 30th birthday, but, as it turns out, she had a whole lot more to celebrate and share.
The fashion blogger and racing darling announced that she was three and a half months pregnant!
The star married former footballer Luke Ricketson 18 months ago, and now the pair have a baby on the way.
Gai Waterhouse, Robbie Waterhouse, Tom Waterhouse and his wife Hoda, Anthony Bell, Fail Elliot, and Jordan and Zac Stenmark were among the sixty guests at The Grounds to hear the news.
Kate said, “Luke and I feel so blessed and we couldn’t be happier. We are absolutely thrilled to share this news with our family and closest friends.”
Ricketson also shared a speech, saying his wife was, “going to be an incredible mum… I’ve always wanted to be a father and I can’t wait for this amazing journey that we are about to embark on.”
Kate’s parents Gai and Robbie already had the insider info at the announcement and said, “We were over the moon when we heard the news and we are so happy we can now share it with our friends.”
Congratulations to Kate and Luke!

Dave Hughes Quits The Project
After four years delivering the news with a side of laugh-out-loud humour from behind the desk at The Project, Dave Hughes has announced he is leaving his post to focus on a national stand-up tour.
The star issued a statement saying, “I’ve been banging on about doing a proper national stand-up tour for years and if I don’t do it now before my kids start school, I never will. I will pop up on the show from the road on a weekly basis whether they like it or not.”
Although the departure is a surprise, we did have an inkling Hughes was ready to pursue some personal passion projects after he celebrated his last radio show with Kate Langbroek. The pair had hosted the Nova FM breakfast show
Comedian Peter Helliar is set to take Hughes’ spot behind the desk at The Project as of January 2014.
Alex Perry and David Jones Part Ways
Back in August, Alex Perry made quite the statement when he sat front row at the Myer Spring/Summer 2013/14 fashion show as a personal guest of Myer CEO Bernie Brookes. Now that controversial seating arrangement has come to play, with news that the king of glamour has officially parted ways with David Jones.
Alex Perry joined David Jones in 2007, but after sales were not climbing the way they should be, Perry set out to renegotiate in August this year, but the negotiations broke down. Perry told Fairfax Media, “It’s taken them three months to respond to my letter and there are some serious issues that I wanted to address, so to hear the news from you is delightful.”
He said the department store giant had failed to support his new, more youthful (and high celebrated we might add) direction for the brand, despite that it has resulted in 40 new stockists across Europe.
David Jones’ camp are insisting the decision was a result of declining sales, with Group Executive of Merchandise Donna Player saying, “Whilst we wish Alex Perry all the best we are a publicly listed company and we have a responsibility to our shareholders to delete non-performing brands and reallocate the space to new brands and high-performing brands.”
With Alex Perry off the racks, DJs will be using the empty floorspace for a newly signed brand, Paris-based Australian designer Martin Grant, as well as giving additional space to Rachel Gilbert and Camilla Wood.
When asked whether he would be stepping over to Myer, Perry told Fairfax, “I can’t answer that right now. I’ve got several options but David Jones is not the best place for me in terms of my brand any more.”
