Just weeks after us Aussies had the chance to watch Kim Kardashian’s fairytale wedding unfold, the reality star has filed for divorce from husband of just 72 days Kris Humphries.

Kim and Kris Marriage Breakdown
After a multi-million dollar, televised “fairytale” wedding, Kim Kardashian, 31, has officially filed for divorce from husband Kris Humphries, 26. Rumours of an impending divorce and a marriage break down have been circulating since Kim made her way down that black and white aisle but the reality star and her famous family have been insisting all is well between the newly weds.
But on Monday, Kim released a statement that she had filed for divorce. A heartbroken Kris told People magazine, “I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce. I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”
Kim, whose marriage lasted a measly 72 days, cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. She told E! News, “After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”
Understandably, the public have been speculating whether this marriage was ever for real or just a huge scam put on to get television ratings and rake in the $10 million the pair reportedly earned for their nuptials.
Twitter has been in a frenzy with hashtags like #thingslongerthanKimsmarriage”, “reasonsyoursingle” and “divorce” all trending within hours of the announcement.
It may have been a fairytale wedding but it seems that does not always amount to a fairytale marriage. This news comes just ahead of the star heading here to launch her handbag line and attend Emirates Stakes day.

The 31-year-old star and her fiancé Eric Johnson have been up front about their desire to have kids together and now their dream has finally come true.
