Melissa George Agent Provocateur Campaign Unveiled
You know it’s going to be a good campaign when it’s directly inspired by the legendary George Michael ‘Too Funky’ video.
And the new Agent Provocateur trailer doesn’t disappoint.
It stars Aussie blonde Melissa George as one of a trio of models backstage at a horror fashion show, complete with caricature screaming designer (some kind of weird combination of Galliano, Stanley Tucci and a character from the Hunger Games).
They’re squeezed into horrible dresses, taped down, starved and generally subjected to all manner of humiliations. George isn’t even allowed to kiss her paramour, English model Elettra Wiedemann.
And that brings on a mass rebellion – all three ‘models’ rip off their designer duds and strut the catwalk in gorgeous suspenders, basques and the latest Agent Provocateur bras.
It’s all very high camp, as befits the video’s director, famous cult director John Cameron Mitchell, who helmed Hedwig And The Angry Inch.
And it’s all even more impressive given that George was actually 8 weeks pregnant when it was filmed.
So what’s the latest line like? It’s very Art Deco – beautiful black and green embroideries on see-through netting, with lots of bondage-inspired straps and bows. Be prepared for intricate laces that will make getting undressed a very enjoyably complicated job.
Will you be getting into the latest Agent Provocateur underwear?

This Week’s Fashionable Weddings
This was the weekend to get married if you were fashion royalty- or real royalty, actually.
Both Kate Bosworth and Tatiana Santo Domingo got hitched this weekend, and they did it in radically different style.
Don’t know who Tatiana Santo Domingo is? She’s the heiress who just wed the second-in-line to the Monaco throne and grandson to Grace Kelly, Andrea Casiraghi.
She and her husband have been doing the fashion circuits for years, and even though the ceremony was private the paparazzi got a peek of her wedding dress.
The look? Vintage 70s chic – it was a custom Missoni with a raffia and silk embroidered bodice, mid-length sleeves and a delicate train.
She paired it not with a tiara but with a relaxed circlet of flowers.
We knew it was going to be a laid-back chic sort of event when she tweeted pictures of herself and her friends the day before, all dressed in chilled-out white with big red flowers in their hair. Very summer hippie.
Bosworth, however, went a slightly less relaxed route.
According to Vogue, not only did she go big, she went two-gowns big. We’re talking custom Oscar De La Renta, an 8-foot long and 16-foot wide train and the full veil shebang, and another gown entirely for the Montana party afterwards.
And the whole thing was photographed exclusively for Martha Stewart Weddings, like Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ nuptials before them.
Check out the pics – looks like it was another wedding in the vein of ‘Southern rustic’, a bit like Lauren Bush’s marriage to Ralph Lauren’s son, where the groom wore cowboy boots.
Bosworth didn’t wear cowboy boots, though – apparently it was Jimmy Choos all the way.
Her groom, Michael Polish, directed her in a film last year, but before that she was with Michael Fassbender – who we can’t see going with a cowboy boot wedding, to be honest.
Which is more your style – relaxed and hippie or full-glamour bride?

First Plus-Size Designer Shows At New York Fashion Week
It’s an historic NYFW for fashion.
For the first time in the New York shows’ history, a plus-size line is showing – and it’s getting a front-line show at the Lincoln Centre.
Cabiria, which goes with the tagline “Whimsical, Sensual Style In Sizes 12-24”, was started by Eden Miller, who’s won awards for her costume designs on Broadway and apparently started the line out of frustration at not being able to get luxury clothes in 18 or above.
Eden’s line, made entirely in America, is strongly influenced by 1940s styles and gorgeous prints, and is at the moment entirely comprised of dresses. It’s all about the flattering wrap line and the perfect-hitting length.
Cabiria has only been in business for a few years, but the NYFW boost will be fantastic for its business.
Fashion Weeks are notorious for being difficult to enter, particularly by rank outsiders like plus-size showers. Even Victoria Beckham had to start with a miniature personal showing rather than a large catwalk show, purely to try and establish her reputation.
Our faves? The luscious Chocolate Meteors and the delicate-pretty Feathers.
What do you think about plus-size fashion lines breaking into NYFW?
