Baby Prince George Has To Wear Replica Christening Gown
It looks like HRH Prince George will be making a recession-friendly statement at his christening.
The young heir to the throne will be wearing a replica christening gown.
Fashionistas who follow the British royals will know that there’s a particular christening gown that has been used for all royal christenings since 1841. It’s lace and satin, and was first worn by the children of Queen Victoria.
Yes, that means it’s now 172 years old – and probably covered with centuries of baby sick.
The royal gown has been worn by every royal since, from the Queen herself to Prince Charles, Beatrice and Eugenie, and William and Harry.
Unfortunately, the Queen decreed in 2004 that it’s officially too delicate to wear now – but she won’t let royal babies be left out in the cold. So an exact replica has now been made of the Honiton lace gown, which, befitting its status, is completely enormous. It has a large bow and lengthy skirts – so huge that they were used to wrap up Eugenie at her freezing christening, which was in December.
And George will be christened in it, as opposed to getting his own special new gown.
Rescu. thinks that a personalised McQueen christening gown would go down very well if Kate decides to break with tradition…

Penelope Cruz is celebrating her new collaboration with Agent Provocateur by directing a film for the lingerie giant.
And it’s definitely a family affair.
With Penelope behind the camera, the film stars Irina Shayk (model girlfriend of football player Ronaldo) alongside Penelope’s husband Javier Bardem, with her then heavily pregnant sister Monica in a supporting role.
And her brother Eduardo wrote the soundtrack, while the sisters’ mother Encarna helped out on set, presumably to assist the two very pregnant sisters.
Penelope herself gave birth to a girl on the same day as baby HRH George – who very unkindly stole all the limelight – so she won’t be doing huge promotional duties for the film.
However, she released a statement about how much she loved the whole experience of showing off her L’Agent collection.
“They gave me all the freedom and I was able to tell the story I wanted to tell. I used women of all shapes and sizes, as it was important for me to let women know that this brand is for everyone.”
The short film features a fantasy sequence in which special L’Agent sunglasses reveal the underwear of every woman at a party to a roving male model – all of whom, of course, are decked out in impeccable L’Agent underwear sets.
It’s a birthday party, so there are women in party hats blowing out candles, women lounging by the pool, women riding giraffes, and, er, women hanging immobile from gym rings. Of course.
Will you be getting a piece of the L’Agent collection?

Rihanna Wins Court Case Against Topshop
Topshop may have to pay Rihanna millions in damages, after a court in the UK found that they’d used her picture for T-shirts without her permission.
The photograph on the T-shirts was from a video shoot for ‘We Found Love’, which was shot in Britain, and Topshop used it without consulting her or her management.
The problem? The judge ruled that a lot of the customers may have been ‘misled’ to believe that she’d approved the T-shirts.
The other factor is, of course, Rihanna’s own fashion ambitions. Her (much-criticised) venture into fashion with UK retailer River Island means she really can’t afford rogue clothing that people think she designed.
Topshop argued that it was unfair for Rihanna to try and control her image – but the judge said Topshop had tried to make it appear as if she’d collaborated with them on the clothes, and had ‘damaged her reputation’.
As many as 12,000 T-shirts were sold, but nobody has yet publicly claimed a refund for not knowing it wasn’t official Rihanna merchandise.
We still don’t know how much Rihanna’s going to earn from Topshop’s decision, but judgements on this sort of thing can reach into the millions of pounds.
So what do you think – storm in a T-cup or completely justified?
