There’s a brand new player in the Australian home fragrance game called Atmos so we decided to have a closer look at what they have to offer.
These gorgeous diffusers use porous rattan reeds to disperse 100% fragranced, alcohol-free oils into the air, creating a delicate and long-lasting aroma. Housed in hand-blown apothecary bottles, these Australian-made diffusers are an elegant addition to the home.
We took five with Greg Doyle, the creator of Atmos, to discuss his debut range.
RESCU: What is it about home fragrance that captured you?
Greg Doyle: I fell in love with fragrance when I began my career in cosmetics more than 15 years ago at David Jones. Later in life when I started being more interested in having a beautiful home and entertaining, I thought; why aren’t there any amazing, high quality fragrances for around the house. I loved designer fragrances and wanted them for my home.
I took all of my years of speaking to customers about what they liked and training from the fragrance companies and decided to create my own range. Diffusers reeds are exactly what I wanted. They give a constant fragrance unlike candles or oils that have to be ‘turned on’ and put out. They also look beautiful – I made sure I created something I would be delighted to have in my best friends house as well as mine.
RESCU: How do the reeds work to deliver fragrance to the home for so long and is there anything we can do to encourage the fragrance to last?
Greg Doyle: There are a few factors that make our reeds so long lasting. Firstly, we use the highest quality French fragrances and as most people know no one makes better fragrances than the French. Secondly, they are 100% fragranced oil, not alcohol which evaporates quickly. The reeds absorb the fragrance and allow it to evaporate from them into the surrounding air.
Turning the reeds increases the amount of fragrance which will diffuse into the air and gives you control over how much fragrance is given off. I’ve had one at the bottom of the stairs in my home and every morning I can smell it and I haven’t even turned the reeds in over a month!
RESCU: What is your personal favourite fragrance in the range and why?
Greg Doyle: This may sound cheesy but I have a really hard time choosing just one.
My top three are Oriental Dream (bergamot, white florals and musk), Vanilla Spice (not your ordinary vanilla, but spicy and warm and delicious) and Pomegranate Rouge (zesty ripe fruit but not too sweet).
RESCU: Who should we give Atmos to for Christmas?
Greg Doyle: I just sent a whole bunch to my mom in Canada to give to my whole family. I think everyone should do the same!
