There are many non-invasive treatments that will give you a fresher, younger look by evening out your complexion, brightening up your skin, buffing away dead skin cells, and ultimately winding back the years, without going under the knife. Cosmetic Surgery Specialist Dr. Mark Kohout explains 2 of these remarkable anti-ageing procedures.
As a Plastic Surgeon, I’m frequently asked by women in their 30s for non-invasive treatments that rejuvenate and refresh their look, without actively changing their appearance.
The ultimate look is to achieve the ‘holiday glow’, as opposed to the ‘hospital recovery’. The most common question is: “I want to look fresher and a bit younger, but not like I’ve had heaps of work done.”
So, here are two simple, yet effective treatments that will look like you’ve enjoyed weeks on holiday yachting through the South of France, not weeks under hospital care…
1. Photorejuvenation to combat uneven skin tone and pigmentation blemishes
With the use of Super Intense Pulsed Light (SIPL) technology, Photorejuvenation is an effective and easy way of removing unwanted skin imperfections common to women in their 30s and above, including pigmentation, fine lines, dark spots, blotchy skin colour and uneven skin texture.
How it works
A series of gentle pulses over the skin is absorbed by the abnormal blood vessels or pigmentation. The heat causes damage to the vessel or pigmented lesion, and the body begins its natural healing, clearing the blemish in the process. The lesion will often become darker before it flakes off, or the body absorbs it.
For best results, a series of 4 to 6 treatments are recommended, usually spaced 4 weeks apart. Yearly follow-up treatments may also be beneficial. Prices start from $270 for 4 treatments.
2. Wrinkle treatments to combat crows feet, deep and superficial lines
Often one of the first signs of ageing is around the eyes. As the eyes are the window to one’s soul, it’s not uncommon that this is the most requested area for non-invasive rejuvenation. Areas most commonly treated for fine lines and wrinkles are in the forehead, frown lines between the eyebrows, and crows feet around the eyes, caused by the action of underlying facial muscles.
How it works
The patient is injected via a fine needle into the desired area, and the treatment takes approximately 15 minutes to perform.
How long it lasts
The effects last for 3-6 months, with results usually evident three days after the treatment. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract normally. This is a perfect treatment to perform during a lunch break; where telltale signs following the treatment are often left to a minimum.
Dr Kohout’s final word
These treatments might not be for everyone, so remember; the desired outcome can be achieved by a combination of different treatments to give you the youthful glow.
A good diet, skincare, exercise and a stress-free lifestyle can also contribute to a youthful appearance.
