Last night’s MKR episode resulted in one of the biggest food faux pas in the restaurant business for the sibling act team, Mitch and Laura.
Gianni found a hair in his entrée, but this was just the beginning of the couples melt down when his wife, Zana, also found a hair in her main dish. Dessert was no delight either, when yet another hair was found in her final course.

Despite her dramatic meltdown, Pete went on to define Mitch and Laura’s entrée of their three-course meal as “absolutely delightful” and further went on to say, “I know it wasn’t exactly what you were after – but it definitely wasn’t a disappointment,”
The challenge was less than a breeze, with a menu of two entrees, two mains and two desserts
The caramelized onion broth and truffle French toast was a kitchen hit, but it wasn’t an easy win. The brother-sister team were forced to run to the shops to buy cream, losing valuable time in their kitchen prep. Nonetheless, the judges excused their mishap and scored the sibling duo with double nine’s from both judges.
Their mains were unfortunately underwhelming, with the judges stating, “It was a good dish, but you just didn’t nail all the techniques properly.”
Mitch and Laura further struggled when the pastry for their first dessert tart didn’t maintain its structure, and the dish turned into a spin off of their original plan, resulting in a deconstructed dessert. The judges felt it was “just a little bit flat,” going on to say, “this one just missed the mark,” scoring them both a five for each desserts.

Overall, the brother-sister duo scored an overall 60 in their ultimate instant restaurant.
Carmine and Lauren will post their ultimate instant restaurant in tonight’s episode on Channel 7 and 7:30 pm.
