Angelina Jolie has undergone a double mastectomy, Brad Pitt is coming to Sydney, and Béyonce and Jay-Z may be expecting.

Today it has been revealed that after being told she had an 87 per cent chance of developing breast cancer and a 50 per cent risk of ovarian cancer due to a ‘faulty’ gene, Angelina Jolie has undergone a preventative double mastectomy.
This final operation took place on April 27 after Jolie had already gone three months of medical procedures, starting with a ‘nipple delay’ procedure on February 2nd.. The mother of six broke the news in a column she wrote for the New York Times, called ‘My Medical Choice’ in which she spoke of her own mother’s battle with cancer and told her story.
She said, “…I am writing about it now because I hope that other women can benefit from my experience. Cancer is still a word that strikes fear into people’s hearts, producing a deep sense of powerlessness. But today it is possible to find out through a blood test whether you are highly susceptible to breast and ovarian cancer, and then take action.”
Naturally, the decision wasn’t an easy one for Jolie but she says it is one she is very happy that she made. The surgery has reduced her chances of developing breast cancer to 5 per cent and, she can, “tell my children that they don’t need to fear they will lose me to breast cancer.”
Jolie’s article is full of home truths and we love her all the more for publishing the piece and encouraging women to be pro-active in their lives. She says, “Life comes with many challenges. The ones that should not scare us are the ones we can take on and take control of.”
We couldn’t agree more.
Meanwhile, Ange’s partner, who she described as ‘so loving and supportive’ in her New York Times piece, is set to come to Australia. The mega-star will be attending the Sydney red carpet premiere of his new movie World War Z on June 9th ahead of the zombie thriller’s official June 20 national release.
And with this news, it looks like the next month or so is going to be all about attempted star-spotting (or stalking) in Sydney!
The Great Gatsby cast are headed down under for the much-anticipated film’s May 22 premiere and Superman Henry Cavill will be on our shores for the June 24 premiere of Man of Steel.

Just one week after Beyoncé told Good Morning America that she would like more children, rumours are flying that a sibling for Blue Ivy might be a reality sooner than we thought.
The New York Post have reported that Beyoncé and Jay-Z are expecting and now the world is on official bump-watch. After the Met Gala, the New York Post identified that Bey’s Givenchy dress choice (a high waisted, belted number) was a strategic move to disguise her midsection and practically the second the New York leg of her Mrs Carter World Tour was over, photographs showing what could be a baby bump started cropping up all over the internet.
We’re sure Bey’s belly is going to be under constant supervision until she either confirms or denies this rumour but for now the 31-year-old’s representative is yet to comment.
