Tony Abbott Shocks Big Brother Australia Housemates
While we may be getting a little sick of the country’s leaders and their political messages this close to the election, those in the Big Brother household have been without access to any kind of media for 38 days now meaning they’ve missed the entire campaign trail… until today.
In an Australian-first, the political leaders sent prerecorded messages to the Big Brother housemates today ahead of their lodging postal votes.
Abbott stayed true to his ‘daggy dad’ style and spent the bulk of his tailor-made personal message trying to appeal to the housemates with details of his personal life with his two daughters by his side. He talked about the fact that he was a volunteer bush firefighter, did a bit of surf lifesaving and ending on the cringe-worthy note that, “If you want to know who to vote for, I’m the guy with the not bad looking daughters.” Even daughter Bridget, 20, looking alarmed and a few of the housemates can be heard uttering, “weird.”
Labor leader Kevin Rudd didn’t provide a specifically filmed message but instead provided a more generic pre-produced message. In it, he reflected on his new stance on gay marriage, and promised a bill on the issue would come to parliament within 100 days if Labor wins another term. This left two of the housemates near tears.
Greens leader Christine Milne and Clive Palmer of the Palmer United Party also sent the housemates a message and after hearing from all four, the housemates voted in an AEC approved polling booth.
The episode will be broadcast on Big Brother tonight at 7pm. While there will be no close-ups on their votes, the housemates will be allowed to discuss their vote afterwards so there very well may be some animated political discussions afterwards.
Rachel Zoe Pregnant
Looks like there’s going to be another very stylish celebrity baby in town to compete with the Blue Ivys and the Norths of the world.
Rachel Zoe has just announced that she’s expecting her second child! While rumours have been circling for a few months now, nothing was set in stone until Zoe posted the official announcement on her website on September 3rd.
The fashion star has a lot to celebrate at the moment — not only is she expecting, but she’s also just celebrated her 22nd anniversary with her husband Rodger Berman and has enjoyed her 42nd birthday celebrations at Georgica in the Hamptons with 20 of her closest friends and family.
Before Skyler was born, Zoe had said on The Rachel Zoe Project that she was hoping for a girl to play dress up with. No word yet on the sex of the baby, but we can guarantee either way there will be a fair few mums style stalking!
Emma Watson’s Midriff Baring Outfit
Over in the UK, Emma Watson made quite the fashion statement at the British GQ Men of the Year Awards. In one of her bolder fashion moments, The Bling Ring star stepped out on the red carpet at the Royal Opera House in a Balenciaga ensemble that showed off her stomach.
Watson was honoured as GQ Woman of the Year but the rest of the awards were about the guys. Eddie Redmaybe took out the Breakthrough Award, Pharrell Williams took home Performer of the Year, Tom Ford was Designer of the Year, and Michael Douglas the Legend of the Year.
There were plenty of other famous faces in the audience looking on as well, including Bradley Cooper and Suki Waterhouse, Alexa Chung, Rita Ora, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
