Even the most sceptical among us have experienced something unexplained that has led us to believe, even just for a second, that maybe we really do have a sixth sense. Author, clairvoyant, and intuitive counsellor Sasha Brisk believes that everyone has psychic abilities – it’s just a matter of tapping in to them. In her new book, Born With a Gift, Sasha helps readers develop their innate sixeth sense, allowing them to access the power of intuition and find their path.
We asked Sasha about how we can develop this sixth sense and how doing so could improve our lives…
Rescu: What is sixth sense?
Sasha Brisk: Our Sixth Sense is an emotion deep within our body that we experience when we naturally react to. This experience is our soul communicating through our physical form (our body). Humanity base the majority of their actions on the results that comes from logic within the mind (our ego). We then decide what is best by using the thoughts and messages from our brains and ignore the feelings from our heart, where the emotion stems from.
Rescu: Does everyone have the ability to develop their sixth sense? What holds us back from connecting with this sense?
Sasha Brisk: Everyone is born with the ability to tune in to their sixth sense. Some already know how to tune in, they are aware of it. Some people experience a turning point in their life where it begins to kick in, and their priorities in life shift from being physical and materialistic, to emotional satisfaction without the need or attachment of objects or people.
When we experience the love for ourselves, we begin to become more aware of who we are – and experience more of it. We begin to receive messages through dreams and thoughts, and visions of future/past events.
When we come in contact with other humans, we feel a certain way initially – without even talking to them. This happens to us all the time. This feeling – if you pay attention to for a few minutes, will begin to breakdown and you can describe this split second feeling you experienced into words. These words are a description of the intuitive connection you just received from this other being. We get this feeling from all things living – or once living, that we come in contact with. Why? Because we are all interconnected.
Rescu: What are some tips or exercises to help us develop our sixth sense?
Sasha Brisk: As metaphysical beings, we subconsciously know how to be the caring and nurturing mothers to our children, and partners. For this reason; females have the ability to tune in to their intuition more easily than males. This is the beauty of intuition.
Here are three ways to enhance your ability to tune in:
– Surround yourself in a beautiful green garden that is peaceful and away from all distractions. Listen to the nature of the trees, birds and water. Feel their presence, and feel your energy in place of theirs.
– Practise yoga or tai-chi daily. Go for short walks. Quietening your mind and focusing on your breath helps to create a free flow of chi energy within your body. You will feel more balanced and focused.
– Surround yourself with the energy of your home and lie down on your favourite cushion or mat. Simply close your eyes and relax to the quietness, and stillness of your body, your breath and your surroundings. Feel the energy around you and within you grow stronger and stronger. Feel empowered as your breath flows free throughout your body.
Rescu: For some people the idea of a sixth sense of scary and frightening. What are your thoughts on this?
Sasha Brisk: For those people who feel scared and frigtened haven’t opened themselves up enough to be able to ‘ Love’ who they are and what they are about. They are limited to the connection of knowing their purpose in life, and their purpose surrounding them.
These people need to practise making decisions based on their instant reaction – that split second feeling they receive during this experience. When we practise this, we learn to trust ourselves. There is nothing to be afraid of here.
Rescu: How can tapping into our sixth sense help us emotionally and in our day-to-day relationships?
Sasha Brisk: It is always important to use this ability while communicating to our friends, families and partners. When we feel a certain way, our intuition is generally right, unless our mind talks us into feeling another way.
When this happens, we need to clear our thoughts and step back from the picture and focus on the feeling again. When this feeling comes back – we need to speak from the heart and trust the feeling.
When discussing this feeling with another person, they can help guide you on track , and this helps when we are experience a downfall in life, where there are too much distractions and not enough time for yourself.
