Diane Von Furstenberg is one woman who is on par with royalty here at Rescu, and when we heard about her new fragrance, ‘Diane’ we thought we’d give our readers a little history about this remarkable woman as well as our exclusive interview with the inspirational fashion designer.
Despite having a global fashion empire, she has a strong belief in balancing work and play. Speaking of royalty, Diane Von Furstenberg initially came to prominence as the wife of Prince Egon of Furstenberg and she was known as Diane, Princess of Furstenberg. Wanting something more, “The minute she new she was about to be married she decided to have a career, as she wanted to be someone of her own”. And she began designing women’s clothes under her own label in 1970, two years later.
In 1974 Diane changed the way women dressed with the revolutionary and unmistakable Wrap Dress. Even kept on display in New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, Diane Von Furstenberg’s wrap dresses are loved by women the world over as they are elegant, easy to wear and they always look current!

RESCU’s Exclusive Interview with Diane Von Furstenberg:
Rescu: What was your first memory of fragrance and what was your first perfume?
Diane Von Furstenberg: My first memory is my mother’s perfume…it was called Bandit…and my first perfume for myself was Joy by Jean Patou.
Rescu: Who are the women that inspire you?
Diane Von Furstenberg: My mother Lily was a great inspiration to me…she was a Holocaust survivor and she looked very fragile, but she was strong. She always taught me that fear is not an option. That was a very important lesson for me and I still live by that. But I am truly inspired by all women…their strength, their resilience.
Rescu: What advice do you wish you had received as a young woman?
Diane Von Furstenberg: Maybe to smile more…I was so serious when I was young but now I am always smiling. It is the best facelift !
Rescu: What is your beauty indulgence?
Diane Von Furstenberg: I have Tracie Martyn facials once a week. She is a genius. My inner beauty indulgence is time to myself…I love to hike and discover nature…nature is my biggest source of inspiration. It was in Bali that I discovered the Frangipani flower which is the base noteof DIANE.
Rescu: What is your inspiration behind this new signature fragrance?
Diane Von Furstenberg: I wanted to create something very personal to me that could remind women of the power of fragrance because I think they have forgotten. It is a weapon for seduction ! It is all about confidence and being the woman you want to be !
