Hand’s up who wants a 9% pay rise? Well, put down that chocolate bar and dust the cobwebs off your sweat bands, cause exercise is the way to reach new pay peaks.
Exercising isn’t just good for your health, but your back pocket too! According to a study by the Journal of Labor Research, regular exercises attributes to a higher pay scale than the more sedentary counter parts. On the flip side, a 2007 study found that those who do not exercise and who are not in good shape, have a tendency to earn less money. Yes, you heard it correctly: working out brings you better fortune. So, throw on your running shoes, and get moving today.
As we all know, the benefits of exercise are endless. It helps protect our hearts, lowers blood pressure, reduces fat and is a great way to deal with stress. It keeps our body and mind in prime working condition, which in turn, makes us more productive, positive and less stressed at work. So, now that you know exercising is beneficial to your bank account, how do you go about getting active?
Plan ahead. Setting a regular schedule for exercising will enable you to plan your work and social outings around your health. A lot of people will happily let exercise slip for social situations: an unhealthy habit. Committing to your health means prioritising and planning ahead, so get a calendar and jot your workouts in, and stick to them.
Get your workout wardrobe sorted. Finding the right workout gear can be difficult. Comfort and cool don’t usually sit in the same sentence, but thanks to Lorna Jane, they now do. Get workout ready with brightly coloured tanks, comfortable and supportive bras and pants that fit your shape.
Accidental exercise. Incorporate accidental exercise into your day by taking the stairs, replacing your chair with an exercise ball, squatting whilst on the phone, doing lunges whilst cooking or hopping off the bus 2 stops earlier.
Increase training slowly. Exercising isn’t easy, so start off small. Over time, build up more reps, distance or sessions. If you stay at the same rate, you will plateau and find that you aren’t gaining results. On the other hand, increasing exercise too quickly means you will burnout: so listen to your body, and work to your own ability.
Utilise your Lunches. A lot of you will find that it doesn’t take a whole hour to eat your lunch, so instead of sitting at your desk, scrolling through ASOS or stalking ex-boyfriends on Facebook, go for a walk. Even if it is a short, 20 minute stroll, every second your heart rate is elevated is a positive step towards a healthier life.
Exercise with a friend. We all know that exercising can be, at times, tedious, so why not get a training buddy? Flaking out on your self is easy, but cancelling on a friend is a lot harder. Accountability is a big motivational tool and will get you out of bed at 5 am for the booty camp or will drive you to that gym class.
Eat Healthy. Just because you are exercising, doesn’t mean you can be unhealthy in your food choices. Throw out the chips and lollies in your work drawer, and stock up on lean protein, veggies and healthy grains. To perk up your insides even more, why not try a Cleanse? The Eat Fit Food 10 day Cleanse is perfect way to start your new body with a clean internal slate. You will feel in peak condition and wanting to hop aboard that exercise train in no time.
Happy Exercising!
