My Kitchen Rules contestants Carly and Tresne have revealed to New Idea magazine that they are a couple, despite being labelled as ‘best friends’ on the hit Australian reality show.
The two girls have been a popular pair, winning audience hearts with their positivity and bubbly nature. The two blondes are so enthusiastic that they share a dream of becoming motivational speakers. Fans of the show have expressed both surprise and excitement at learning that the pair are actually a happy couple.
‘We had two different proposals at two different times,’ said Carly. ‘One was at a music festival a year after we met and the second while we were living in England. But basically we came home and had an engagement party, which turned into a surprise commitment ceremony.’
‘We know same-sex marriage is not recognised in Australia so we were going to wait, but then we thought we should do it while we were still young and pretty.
It was Carly and Tresne’s choice to keep their relationship private on My Kitchen Rules. Carly said ‘we wanted to go on the show as ourselves and have people judge us on our cooking and not our sexual preference.’
My Kitchen Rules producers along with Carly and Tresne’s fellow contestants were aware of the pair’s relationship, although it was not mentioned on the show.
The couple live together on the outskirts of Newcastle in NSW. The duo love music festivals, travelling and French food. Tresne works in real estate and the pair both own investment properties, sharing an interest in property development and investment. The girls seem to be a match made in heaven!
