This is a huge month astrologically as The Planet Of Tedious Hard Work And Facts You Didn’t Want Shoved Up Your Nose – aka Saturn – finally changes signs. For one thing this give a break to Aries and Librans. For another it now supports Cancerians, Virgos, Capricorns and Pisceans. For Scorpios and Taureans, it has to be said, you are in the direct line of Saturn’s fire. More in a minute about why this can be a good thing, despite what you have probably read! And if you’re name isn’t on any of those lists, don’t panic. Sometimes it’s better to go unnoticed by Saturn!
Saturn is the planet who is also known as The Lord of Karma. What we reap, we shall sow. He’s the menacing planet who reminds us to be good unless we want coal in our Christmas stocking. He’s the mean head teacher who raps our knuckles. He’s the planet who grimly reminds us that we don’t have forever.
So as you can imagine, he is not the most fun you can have. He’s reality, hard facts and lessons. He’s also the planet who says “Get real”. It’s thanks to Saturn that we learn our lessons and our lives improve. When he’s tough, he’s very, very tough. And when he’s nice? He’s useful.
Saturn, for example, is the planet who commits. That doesn’t sound very exciting but what is a marriage or a business arrangement or a friendship without a bit of commitment. He’s the planet who helps us to stay strong and to see how hard work can lead to security and stability. Again, that doesn’t sound very exciting and in all truth, Saturn is the least barrel of laughs planet of all.
But Saturn is rock solid and he does keep his promises. He is moving into Scorpio this month which means he’s affecting us all in a very different way to the way he’s been affecting us for the past three years. Here’s how…

Wherever Saturn goes, lessons follow. In this current cycle, Saturn will make or has already made a harmonious aspect to your Sun. Saturn should help you clear obstacles now and to get your ambitions in order, if that’s what you want. It’s about being organised and getting things down. In your solar 9th house, Saturn is asking you to begin to see the world through new eyes – your own. You are clearer and clearer on the rules of the game of life and can see widely and well. This transit is also important because of what comes next. If you put in the hard work now, Saturn should help you reap the rewards later. However, we’re talking about long term commitment rather than instant gratification. It’s important now not to mistrust anything which you don’t understand, just because you don’t understand it. The 9th house is about your world view and Saturn might tempt you to limit that. Which is how you come back to looking at the world through your own eyes rather than someone else’s. Broaden your own vision. The 9th house is also about travel and study, so for many of you, a long awaited trip could materialise. Others will start a course of study which could last a long time or lay strong foundations for the future. You work on your philosophies this year and it’s important to remain flexible here. Don’t let your views paint you into a corner. If you change your mind, don’t be afraid to admit it. For others still, this will be a year when you get in touch with your religious side, for others with your metaphysical side. Don’t get too esoteric though. You are laying down important tracks which you’ll use to travel to the future. Keep things real. If you put in the ground work now, and stay mature and responsible, you’ll look back on this as a year when you made investments which took time to pay off, (and I don’t just mean financially). Keep your mind wide open for opportunities to rebuild your philosophies on life, so that they are in tune with where you want to go in the real world.

Expect to start feeling a whole lot more motivated re your career and its general direction. If you know there are changes needed, you are not likely to sit around thinking about them much longer – Mars should fire you up sufficiently so that you Act. Now.
