Just when you thought The Bachelor saga had been swallowed up by the fiery hole of reality television drama of seasons passed, Blake Garvey has managed the next instalment of his post-proposal drama with a love confession for third-place-getter, Louise Pillage.
Blake has revealed he dumped one-time fiancee Sam Frost due to his strong feelings for “Stepford wife” Louise.
Blake said, “What … didn’t end (after the taping) was the love I felt for Lou and as much as I tried to file it away, it kept growing. It wasn’t fair to carry on with everything. It wasn’t fair to Sam, and while she didn’t know it, it wasn’t fair to Lou, or myself.
“We had interviews booked, it was about to be announced on television that Sam and I were engaged and I just didn’t feel the romantic love I was supposed to.”
The questions of everyone’s lips is why then, didn’t he make Louise the last lady standing on the reality dating show.
“It sounds crazy but I was so unsure at that stage, and she was the one I wanted to hurt the least, so I thought it would be easier,” said Blake.
Before the finale went to air, Louise received a five-page love letter from Blake.
“That letter was one of the most overwhelming things I had ever experienced,” said Louise.
Blake wrote in the letter, “My one wish is that I don’t want to just be your first love, I want to be your first, last and only.”
“The moment she walked in and into my arms, I knew I was in love with her and I told her as much,” Blake said recently.
The couple are now planning to move in together in Perth but will have to withstand the public scrutiny that comes with reality show contestants for a while longer.
“There’s been a lot of hate towards us but we’re willing to accept it for what we have,” said 26-year-old Louise.
“There will be girls who will be upset but we all knew what we were signing up for and we all face rejection,” she said. “When they find their own love they’ll understand why you sometimes give things up for it.”
Upon hearing of the couple’s romance, Sam Frost said she was, “secretly hoping the rumours weren’t true”.
“It was really disappointing they didn’t come to me first and say: ‘By the way, this has happened’. I think I deserved that,” she said.
Blake told Woman’s Day, “Sam knew I had feelings for Louise before any of this because I told her”.
The loved up couple are set to appear on The Project tonight on Channel 10.
