Alisa and Lysandra Fraser have made a comeback on The Block, scoring an impressive 28.5 out of 30 in the show’s Sunday night kitchen room reveal. The Block Contestants made headlines last week after they came into conflict with the show’s judges over scoring. The pair claimed that they were being judged too harshly, though it now seems that they have made a turn around.
Last week, the twins exploded after their second bathroom was panned, receiving a low score of 5 out of 10 by judge Shaynna Blaze. In a dramatic television spectacle, coarse language was used and tears spilled as the pair cried out about unfair judging. Alisa and Lysandra even contemplated quitting the show, despite having had such a successful run in the 2013 series, from which they emerged as winners.
‘We felt the remarks were against us personally… that was why we were upset,’ said Ailsa after the conflict. ‘Calling us try-hards and based off feedback of the previous week, especially by Shaynna, that we felt we were being harshly judged.’
‘If those remarks had not been made and we had been given a six or a seven I don’t think we would have responded like that.’
This week, Shaynna Blaze was a big fan of the girls’ kitchen, suggesting a turning point in her relationship with the polarising team. ‘Wow, what a space,’ said Blaze. ‘The girls are back. Everything is exactly where it should be. This isn’t a cook’s kitchen, it’s a chef’s kitchen.’
Despite this positive shift in the mood on the show, the pair remain unsure as to whether they should have returned for The Block Fans vs. Faves in 2014.
‘I think sometimes we should never have come on the show because we finished on such a high last year and with such a good reputation,’ said Alisa. ‘It seems like our whole reputation is being damaged by the expectation the judges have on us.’
