Fashion designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren (known as Viktor&Rolf) are self-confessed outsiders to the fashion world since the commencement of their partnership in 1992. They are renowned for their rebellious identity that pushes boundaries between fashion and art.
In Australia, the duo are best known for their iconic fragrances including Flower Bomb which was launched 10 years ago and remains one of the best selling designer fragrances of all time. Internationally, they renowned for experimental runway shows, and have now brought to Australia their Viktor&Rolf: Fashion Artists exhibition working in collaboration with the National Gallery of Victoria.
The exhibition brings to life their earlier designs from their Viktor&Rolf archive and international museum collections, selection of their work-in-progress ‘Dolls‘ (antique dolls wearing miniature versions of their iconic looks), and rare backstage and behind the scenes footage.
We had the rare privilege of an exclusive interview with the Dutch dynamic duo and their recent trip to Australia.
Watch below as they reveal the inspiration behind their exhibition and how they used the power of visualisation to create their fashion empire.
