There’s nothing more flirty that a fishtail braid, but anyone who’s tried the style knows it can be a tricky one to master. Before you tie your hair into a tangle, try out Joh Bailey’s top tips for a fabulous fishtail.
Joh Bailey’s tips for creating the perfect fishtail braid:
Step 1: Decide how you would like your hair too look like from the front. All back, side part, middle part however you like. Start with dry hair.
Step 2: Brush hair all back and start at the nape of the neck with the hair divided into 2 large sections. Rescu. Recommends: Lady Jayne Tail Comb ($4) for the perfect part.
Step 3: On the outside of your 2 large sections take 2 small sections (One from each side). And cross to the opposite side, just as you would a normal braid. But with a fishtail all you need is two sections and cross over.
Step 4: Continue until you get to the bottom. Fasten with a clear elastic and spray with hair spray. Rescu. Recommends: Toni & Guy Flexible Hold Hairspray ($16)
Step 5: The best part about a fish tail braid is, once fastened, you pull the edges to make it look worn and messy. Be careful that it looks messy and not A Mess!!! Rescu. Recommends: a spritz of TRESemmé Fresh Start Dry Shampoo ($11) to get that romantic tousled look.
