‘We are crazy about all the gorgeous holiday palettes. How can we make the most out of a make up palette? Most people end up using one or two shades and it would be great to get some advice on how to use an eye shadow palette and even a shimmer brick correctly’

There’s no time like the holidays to wear shimmery makeup; it’s such an easy way to make your look more festive and glamorous without going over the top. Our Holiday Gift Giving collection includes several eye palettes with a variety of finishes from matte to metallic, which are perfect for creating quick and easy holiday looks for both day and night. To create a pretty shimmery eye look, a good rule of thumb is to use the lighter shade as your base color, a medium-tone shadow on the lower lid, and then layer a sparkle, shimmer or metallic shadow on top of the medium shade. For example, start by sweeping Cream Eye Shadow from the Greystone Eye Palette all over your lid, from the lash line to the brow bone. Follow with a layer of Winter Grey Eye Shadow on top, from the lash line to slightly above the crease. Then layer Chiffon Metallic Eye Shadow or Caramel Sparkle Eye Shadow on top for a more dramatic look.
Next, use an eyeliner brush to apply Black Steel Eye Shadow to line eyes, starting from the outer corner working your way in toward the inner corner. Make sure you go as close to the lash line as possible without any gap. Draw the line all the way to the inner corner so the line looks smooth. For a more density and depth, first line eyes with Caviar Ink Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, and then sweep the Black Steel Eye Shadow on top on the gel liner. Last but not least, apply two or three coats of Black Smokey Eye mascara onto the lashes.
Complement the subtle shimmer on eyes with a highlighting powder, like our Pink Shimmer Brick on cheekbones for a shimmering glow. To apply, sweep a face blender brush across all 5 shades and lightly dust above the apple of the cheek, as well as along the temples. You can also apply in the inner corner of the eyelid to open up eyes. Finally, apply Brown Berry Art Stick on lips to top off the look.
