We are almost half-way through 2012, which means the cold weather is upon us! But when it comes to the brand new scents released in time for winter, forget about having to rug up and focus more on the freshness of spring and summer – after all, spring is only three months away! So say a fond farewell to your winter blues with these new fragrances:
Chloe, L’eau de Chloe
Citrus and rose – doesn’t sound like a winter scent, does it? But L’eau de Chloe proves that with a little depth, these notes can be worn all year round. A crisp citrus beginning (which smells a bit like fresh lemonade) is blended with rose petals, distilled rosewater and patchouli, leaving you with a delicate and elegant fragrance to get you through the cold winter months.
Available at Myer, David Jones and selected independents (30ml EDT – $80, 50ml EDT – $100, 100ml EDT – $140)
Bvlgari, Omnia Coral
Inspired by the “gem of the sea”, Omnia Coral is a bright fruity floral featuring fresh and tart top notes of bergamot and goji berries, a heart of exotic hibiscus and aquatic water lily and a pomegranate, musk and cedar wood base. Refreshing and almost tropical in feel, Omnia Coral is the ideal scent to get ready for warmer weather!
Available at Myer and David Jones (40ml EDT – $99, 65ml EDT – $125)
John Galliano, Parlez-Moi d’Amour Eau Fraiche
Feminine, playful and romantic are the best way to describe John Galliano’s latest fragrance release, the third in the Parlez-moi d’Amour range (after the edt & edp versions). Grapefruit flower and ginger are what you get when first sprayed, followed by floral notes of jasmine and rose with a tart twist of white currant, leading into a base of cypress wood and musk. Gorgeously girly!
Available at Myer, David Jones and selected independents (80ml EDT – $89)
Diane Von Furstenburg, Diane EDT & EDP (pictured)
Internationally renowned fashion designer Diane Von Furstenburg returns to the fragrance world with both an eau de parfum and eau de toilette, simply named Diane. Von Furstenburg’s message for the wearers of the fragrance is “Be the woman you want to be”, and uses frangipani and violet to anchor this statement. Supporting the floral heart is a base of musk, patchouli and myrrh. Diane is a woody floral fragrance that can easily be worn all year round!
Available at Myer and David Jones (EDT: 50ml – $99, 100ml – $137; EDP: 50ml $129, 100ml – $168)
Chloe, Love, Chloe Purse Spray
Also by Chloe is a limited edition handbag-friendly packaging of Love, Chloe. The fragrance (orange blossom, pink pepper, lilac, hyacinth, iris, heliotropine, wisteria, musk, vanilla, almond, talc and rice powder) remains the same, but it is housed in a 10ml rose gold flask, and comes with two refills. Great for taking on your winter holiday!
Available at Myer, David Jones and selected independents (3x10ml EDP – $90)
Tom Ford, Neroli Portofino Eau Fraiche Body Splash
Are you and your significant other both looking for a fresh fragrance? Look no further than Tom Ford’s new blend of Neroli Portofino – this time in a lighter concentration and in splash form! Using the Italian coastal village of Portofino as its muse, the fragrance includes neroli, lemon, bergamot, mandarin, lavender, rosemary and amber. You’ll feel like you’re on a cruise through the Italian Riviera!
Available at selected David Jones stores (236ml – $190)
For the Gents
Dolce & Gabbana, The One Sport
From the The One collection comes the new men’s fragrance The One Sport: made for, according to Dolce & Gabbana, “the modern day gladiator”. The main note of the fragrance is Sequoia wood, also known as redwood, which are some of the largest trees in the world. Also featured in The One Sport are rosemary, watery notes, cardamom, patchouli and musk. A clean, Mediterranean-inspired top followed by a woody, earthy heart and base – you don’t have to be an athlete to enjoy this sporty scent!
Available at Myer, David Jones and selected independents (50ml EDT – $96, 100ml EDT – $129; also available as a deodorant stick)
Jean Paul Gaultier, Kokorico
The king of anti-conformism is back with a brand new men’s scent: Kokorico (the French version of the rooster’s cry, “cock-a-doodle-doo”)! Fig leaves provide freshness, and the blend of cocoa bean and woods bring sensuality and masculinity to the heart of this fragrance. It’s fun and different – as is the bottle, which is a face when viewed from the front, but in profile is the classic “Le Male” torso! One word of advice – Kokorico is definitely a try-before-you-buy scent, especially if your man is looking for something out of the ordinary!
Available at Myer and David Jones (50ml EDT – $80, 100ml EDT – $132)
