Brooks Brothers Nabs Zac Posen
When you think ‘fashion-forward’, Brooks Brothers is perhaps not the first name to spring to mind.
However, that might be all set to change – because they’ve brought Zac Posen on board to design their women’s collection and accessories.
But fashion commentators are wondering how the two very different collaborators will mesh.
Posen is most famous for his 1930s-influenced gowns and red carpet wear, while Brooks Brothers’ womenswear specialises in sensible wrap dresses and cardigans for the over-40 set.
However, it may not be as strange as it seems on the surface: Brooks Brothers has another seemingly-incompatible designer happily at the helm.
Thom Browne, who’s most famous for his eccentric suiting and avant-garde catwalk shows, has been designing dandy-ish suits and dresses with a twist for Brooks Brothers’ Black Fleece label for a few years. And it’s apparently been very successful.
So the hint of glamour that Posen brings may not prove to be a disaster after all.
Will you be buying a piece of Zac Posen for Brooks Brothers?

Donate Clothes To Country Road To Win
Want to donate your clothes to charity and potentially win money for more?
Country Road has teamed up with the Australian Red Cross to do just that. From 1-5 July, donating any old Country Road clothes or accessories to Red Cross will put you in the draw to win a $100 gift voucher, with five available each day.
It’s all part of the Fashion Trade initiative, which rewards people for their social conscience in donating old clothes to the Red Cross charity.
The aim? To save old clothes from landfill or destruction.
And thus far it’s saved over 60,000 pieces of clothing from that fate. Good work.
The clothing must be wearable, definitely from Country Road, and in a condition to be resold. No massive rips or peculiar patches.
But the more you donate, the bigger your chance of winning a voucher – so start scouring your closet for old Country Road pieces immediately.

Julian Assange To Star On The Catwalk
Julian Assange will make his catwalk debut this September – without stepping out his front door.
Up and coming designer Ben Westwood has cast him as one of six models in his upcoming show, apparently inspired by Clint Eastwood.
Westwood decided to have Assange model his creations as a way of highlighting his predicament. Assange is ensconced at the Ecuadorian embassy in London fighting extradition to Sweden on sexual assault charges.
But having Assange in the show has its own challenges – namely that he can’t leave the embassy. So Westwood has brought the show to him.
“Julian’s been in the embassy for two years and it’s important that he doesn’t slip into obscurity,” Westwood said. “I want to highlight Julian Assange’s plight. What happened to him is totally unfair.”
So what will Assange be wearing? Apparently an outfit inspired by Eastwood cowboy flick The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. Hardly dignified.
But at least he won’t be wearing one of the other pieces, which is apparently covered in pictures of his own face.
What do you think – good move or ridiculous?
