We imagine there must be more than a few sore heads at the office today! This year’s Melbourne Cup, the event’s 151st year, felt like it was glitzier, more glamorous and more celebrity focused than we’ve ever seen before. And, naturally, we loved every second of it! Let us walk you through the day.
Sarah Jessica Parker has landed in Australia and has already begun media appearances! We find out what the Sex and the City star has been up to.
Bold Bright Stars
After sticking to the monochrome dress code at Derby Day on Saturday, the stars went all out with the colour for Melbourne Cup. sass & bide were well represented with both Jennifer Hawkins in a clashing coloured print frock from the designer duo and Rebecca Judd in a fluorescent yellow number which she teamed with a cobalt blue headpiece and clutch.
Laura Dundovic also chose a sunny shade of yellow for her Charlie Brown frock and wedges and topped the ensemble off with a peach floral headpiece, looking ever the lady.
Fellow Miss Universe contestant Rachael Finch was also spotted out and about looking glam along with Ashley Hart, Kate Waterhouse, Brynne Edelsten and more.
But it’s not all about the ladies, the boys, including Adrian Grenier, Matt Moran, Hamish Blake and Andy Lee, stepped it up in suits looking dapper and spicing things up with lapels, flowers and patterened ties.
Marquee Wars
With all the big names appearing this Spring Racing season, it’s not surprising the major sponsors have entered bidding wars to get stars in their marquees.
Adrian Grenier was the man of the moment at the cup with both the Emirates maquee and the Lavazza tent willing to pay top dollar to have him appear. In the end, Lavazza won out, offering Grenier a lifetime supply of coffee, a VIP section and a lot of cash to remain in the tent exclusively.
We Don’t Know How She Does It
The woman who stole our as Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker, landed in Melbourne yesterday ready for a whirlwind media blitz for her new film, ‘I Don’t Know How She Does It’.
Parker appeared in front of Melbourne media yesterday wearing a tight-fitting yellow Vera Wang dress with white six-inch Manolos.
The 46-year-old mother of three talked about her home life, insisting she lives a pretty normal life with her kids, taking the kids to school, doing tuck-shop duty and more, saying, “the whole house looks like a crime scene…with twins particularly, there are moments that it’s gruesome.”
Today the star is attending Oaks Day and Myer Fashions on the Field.
