Freaked out by your frown lines? Don’t worry. Here, Dr Mark Kohout reveals temporary and permanent solutions.
Stress and ageing are all factors that contribute to frown lines forming on your face; unfortunately they are also inevitable factors in life. Ageing celebrities, such as Courteney Cox (pictured), have set the standard for line-free faces, and now many women are following suit, in the pursuit to achieve the same look.
For very few people, this relaxed, stress-free look is naturally embedded in their genes. However there are a variety of procedures, both temporary and permanent, that can deliver a happier, more youthful look.
Dermal Fillers
For those who prefer a less invasive alternative to surgery, dermal fillers are the way to go.
Dermal fillers are suitable for most people, and are injected into the skin to elevate already established depressions, such as frown lines associated with ageing.
The treatment is simple and easy, completed within 15-30 minutes, dependent on your particular needs. Immediately following the procedure, the skin over the treated area may look slightly raised and a little reddened, but you will be pleased to know that the area can be covered with oil-free make-up. The raised area will become flatter over the following 24 hours, and normal colour should return quickly. The amount of settling, and how long it takes, will vary from person to person, with the effect of these fillers lasting between 3-6 months.
Wrinkle Treatment
For those of you comfortable with injections, this one is perfect for targeting those lines in-between the brow, leaving you with a happier and more youthful look. This wrinkle treatment is a highly purified preparation, which blocks muscle action and minimises the wrinkles associated with over active muscles, without the numbness or disturbance of sensation.
A small amount is injected via a fine needle into the desired area. No local anaesthetic is required; however several injections are needed for each treatment. Treatment takes approximately 15 minutes, and for those of you who live busy lifestyles, you will be happy to know you can resume normal activities immediately.
The effects last for 3-6 months. The results are usually evident about three days after treatment although can take up to 1-2 weeks. If you have a repeat treatment, the results generally last longer than the first time. The more treatments you have, the longer the effects of subsequent injections.
Of course there are plenty of other options when it comes to smoothing out those brow lines. To discuss your treatment suitability with Dr. Kohout, please phone 1300 551 151 or email info@drmarkkohout.com.au
