With so many new beauty products landing on my desk every week, I get excited by products with a bit of a twist. I’m adding a little bit of quirk to give my beauty bag an updated spin, with clever packaging and innovative ideas high on my list. Read on to find out my favourites this week!
Antonio Lopez for MAC
The art and cosmetics worlds collide in MAC’s Antonio Lopez collection, with images from the iconic fashion illustrator’s body of work taking pride of place on a range of compacts containing vibrant eyeshadows, lip colours and blushes. I love a spot of old-school glamour, and this collection is nothing if not glamorous. The campaign fronted by Jerry Hall, Pat Cleveland and Marisa Berenson takes the glitz factor to new heights, not to mention the hyper pigmented colours MAC have created for the collection. Vivid and vivacious, this range takes punchy beauty looks to a whole new level!
RRP: $30-$79 available from MAC counters nation wide.
Ultraceuticals Ultra Brightening Moisturiser Cream
I love a product with great science behind it, and Ultraceuticals Ultra Brightening Moisturiser Cream has that in spades! Combatting pigmentation, dark spots and a loss of radiance, this wonder cream contains ingredients that enhance the skin’s natural lipid barrier function, along with a complementary skin brightening complex to add an extra dose of glow. The cream also works to prevent time and environment from ageing the skin, pushing this product into the lofty realms of skincare power players. Youth, radiance and smooth skin packed into one tube? It’s happening.

Estée Lauder Pretty Naughty
A diamond cut palette adds a bit of extra high-voltage glamour with a pinch of “guess what I’ve been up to” sexxxxy to an already luxurious product in Estée Lauder’s Pretty Naughty Pure Color Illumination Powder Gelée Blush. Pretty pastels take pride of place, but are undercut by a darker, dustier shade to add a bit of an edge. Pearls and pigments are suspended above the skin, giving cheeks a standout rosy glow, and the idea of ‘Pretty Naughty’ a whole new meaning. It’s not for nothing that Estée Lauder are a staple in my beauty bag; their ability to add a dose of creativity to even the most classic of products is enough to get my tick of approval!
RRP: $75 available from esteelauder.com.au
Shiseido Ibuki Collection
In my books, no company in the world does cleansers better than Shiseido. Their new GentleCleanser from the Ibuki Collection is no exception. This is no ordinary cleanser— not only does it remove the impurities that skin tends to build up during the day, but it also infuses skin with the resistance it needs against UV rays, pollution and the stress of the daily grind. Add in moisturising properties, and you’ve got a cleansing game changer! I’m also giving the collection’s Softening Concentrate the thumbs up. It not only injects skin with a hit of hydration, but enhances the power of any products you use afterwards. Plump, fresh and hydrated skin, here I come!
RRP: $52-$72 from David Jones, Myer and selected pharmacies.
Scünci Topsy Tail
I’ve found the cure for a bad hair day— and all it requires is one super-easy ultra-handy little kit known as the Scünci Topsy Tail. With this one tool, you’ll have a world of new hair styles at your fingertips! Just loop, flip and twist and your locks will be work, event or party ready— no trip to the hairdresser’s required! Sometimes a little short-cut really does pay off…
RRP: $9.95 available from David Jones and Priceline
