What is Micellar Water?
Acting as a magnet for grit and grime on the skin, Micellar Water (originating in France, and named after the micelle molecules within the liquid formula) grabs onto any surface impurities when applied to the skin. This is skincare gold as when it is wiped away, so is all the gunk and grime.
Why Micellar Water?
“Micellar water is a unique oil and water fusion that combines oil and water into the one solution, or phase, so it does not separate as oil and water usually does,” explains celebrity skin therapist, Jocelyn Petroni. Therefore, “Micellar waters have the benefits of both an oil and a water cleanser yet they give a better result than either can achieve used separately, making Micellar Water the best make-up removers on the planet!” she explains.
How does Micellar Water Work?
The Micelles are made of fatty-acid esters, which self-distribute on the cotton pad, and subsequently onto your complexion. This means administration is simple, and the need for scrubbing and pulling at the skin to cleanse, redundant.
How Should Micellar Water Be Applied?
Here’s the drill, if you don’t want to spill this sweet stuff; apply it with a cotton pad so you are in control of the amount you use and can evenly work it across the complexion. Micellar Water is designed to be applied, but does not necessarily need to be removed unless you feel you need a deeper clean. So, after applying – and removing all traces of makeup and daily dirt – you can leave it on, splash it away or cleanse with your usual cleanser.
However, Facialist and Wellbeing Practitioner, Amy Erbacher cautions against using too many different skincare brands in combination with Micellar Water. “This can sometimes lead to an over lap of ingredients or too much of the one thing,” she notes. “I’d purchase your Micellar Water with a couple more of the same brand to ensure the products and their benefits aren’t confused in how they are to ‘synergize’.”
What are the extra benefits of Micellar Water?
They travel well. As there is no need for water to remove Micellar Water after it’s been applied, making it super transportable and fuss-free. The #1 product you will find in any given makeup artists kit, French women in particular have been avid advocates of Micellar Water for years and many celebrities and models are following suit. ”I have never had a client ever dislike the product!” enthuses Jocelyn.
When Can Micellar Water Be Applied?
Morning and Night – and anytime during the day should you need to ‘vacuum’ the visage!
Who Can Use Micellar Water?
Micellar Waters are extremely gentle, making them perfect for any skin type, be it sensitive, oily, youthful or mature. “There are many Micellar water products on the market all with different philosophy’s and functions,” explains Amy. “If you suffer from sensitive skin for example, take the time to research various brands, and investigate what ingredients they use,” she suggest, adding that the best options are those free of alcohol and fragrance.
