Mischa Barton’s fashion line is proving to be hot property and H&M could be launching a luxury fashion brand.
Following in the footsteps of Nicole Richie, Jessica Simpson and Lauren Conrad, the former ‘O.C’ star unveiled her own boho-inspired clothing collection last week – and apparently it’s a huge success.
CocoPerez.com reported, “Some of the pieces are flying off the shelves!
“So far the Mischa Signature Jacket is completely sold out and there’s only one Clara Sequin Dress left in a size small.”
Created with help from her mother Nuala, Mischa’s Place features everything from tops and trousers, through to body butters, nail polishes and handbags all at the click of a button.
In a message on the site – which ships to America, Britain, Canada, France, Spain, Sweden and Germany, the 26-year-old actress says, “Together with the help of my Mum Nuala, my inspirations are brought to life using elements of my personal style.
“Our collection has grown and developed to reflect the consumer and myself over the seasons, whilst maintaining a consistent theme. I hope you enjoy my designs and have as much fun wearing them as I did designing them!”
Mischa made a previous foray into the world of fashion with a handbag and accessories line in 2008.
Hennes and Mauritz, the Swedish company who own COS, Monki, Cheap Monday and retailer H&M, famed for its designer collaborations, is thought to be planning the new project after it launches its sustainable red carpet range, entitled the Exclusive Glamour Conscious Collection, on April 12.
Designer Behnaz Aram, who joined the company’s design team in August last year, is thought to be heading up the new luxury brand.
H&M spokeswoman Charlotta Nemlin refused to confirm the speculation but did admit the company is constantly working on new endeavours.
She told WWD, “We are constantly looking at new ideas; it’s a natural part of our work. However, there is nothing new that we can [talk] about for the moment.”
Michelle Williams has already shown her support for the Exclusive Glamour Conscious Collection line, wearing one of its monochrome floor-length gowns to the BAFTAs in February this year.
Speaking about Michelle, a H&M representative previously said, “H&M approached Michelle Williams’s stylist Kate Young and they showed great interest from the start.
“We felt that this was a fantastic opportunity and a new and exciting way to show our design.”
