Want to get a new pair of sunglasses for the new year? Fear not – Rescu. has the best picks from hottest collections just for you…
There’s a revolution in sunglasses and Rescu. are excited about it.
From the vintage styles and hyper neon of last season, the big glasses of 2013 are sleek, unisex, thick-framed and modern, playing on reflectivity and simple shapes to make a statement.
The new range from Epokhe Eyewear is tiny but contains a jewel for all styles. The different tints highlight a major trend in this year’s sunglasses – to pick different lenses to suit your facial colouring.
Epokhe’s offering ranges from a deep 80s amber, paired with square-ish tortoiseshell frames, to a light-blue reflective number in the round black frames of the 60s – very Lennon.
Carrying on the simplistic trend, although with more colour, is fashionista favourite Illesteva, found at Net-a-Porter and beloved by front-row doyennes who don’t want the sun in their eyes.
Their latest range also explores tortoise-shell, which was previously sidelined as dated and Annie Hall-ish. We’re sensing a must-purchase for late summer.
However, they also do bright, popping frames in basic primary colours – red, yellow and blue – on very dark lenses. It’s slightly Oxford, slightly Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and very 2013.
And then there’s the capsule collection from Le Specs called Sky Gazer, who say they’re marrying sleek classic shapes with ‘modern attitude’ – bang on-trend.
Their Runaways sunglasses, inspired by the Joan Jett band from the 70s, are dead cool, with heavy dark frames and high-reflection lenses, but we’re predicting the massive success story will be the Hey Macarena white-and-pink number with the blue lenses (pictured below). It’s whimsical, retro and fun.
