But just like in the old days of real-life dating, there are still pitfalls that, if not avoided, can ruin your online dating experience.
1. Represent yourself accurately.
Choose a photo which shows off your best features and also portrays your personality. The best photo you have of yourself might be when you were bridesmaid at your sister’s wedding, but if you use this photo as your profile picture, men will perceive that you are the sort of girl who gets very dressed up, wears heaps of make-up and carries flowers around all the time. If this is what you are like, that’s fine, but if you’re actually a bit of a tomboy who likes to watch footy and drink beer with the boys, use a picture of yourself holding a schooner instead. Also, be honest about your vital statistics and in your descriptions. Going on a date with a potential match will be nerve-wracking enough without having to come clean about who you really are.
It’s true that the more men you go on a date with, the better chance you have of meeting ‘the one’. But when it comes to online dating, there’s such a huge selection of men available, you could find yourself with a different date every night of the week! One problem with going on a huge number of dates is that it doesn’t leave you much time to be discerning about which men you meet up with. You’ll be so exhausted by all the dates, you won’t have time to give any of the men the attention it takes to form a real connection. Send as many kisses and emails as you have time to send, but be more selective about who you actually meet. It’ll make your dates more special and give you the best chance of meeting the right man.
