Camilla Franks goes deep into the Avatar jungle and creates a team of tribal inspired goddesses. From bold vivacious prints to softer, neutral kaftans, Camilla has pulled out all she has to create a collection that is ultimately drool-worthy.
Avatar has come to be one of the most popular and memorable films in recent years, and it seems that the opening of the Camilla show will be set to be the most memorable of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. The show began with a short clip from Avatar, encapsulating the essence of the film, and placing the guests into a cinema like feel. Next the runway filled with fog, and out crept two models fully adorned in Avatar make up from head to toe.
The Na’vi models crept out down the runway, peering at entertained guests, as if to be experiencing another world. Next the show began, and the entertainment factor definitely stuck around! Camilla Franks is well known for her embellished and bold kaftans, and this latest collection proved she is still the queen of luxury resort wear. The looks were styled by the famous Michelle Jank, and they were bright, bold and sexy all at once.
Camilla’s designs were clearly grouped into themes, and she began with rainbow butterfly prints in batwing style kaftans, which saw the models adorned in orange and white feathered head pieces. Prints turned kaleidoscopic, as more staple pieces like leggings were teamed with shorter slim lined kaftans. Models wore matching printed clogs and bold orange eye shadow that highlighted the delicate detail in each piece. In true Camilla aesthetic, long maxi kaftans were adorned in sequinned embellishment around the neckline.
Next, prints turned pastel, and hair became frizzed to the extreme, in a range of elegant maxi dresses in sky blue and peach. But just as the audience settled into this new aesthetic, a new set of tribal prints entered the runway, with models wearing matching black bob cut wigs. Bold leopard print mixed amongst zebra stripes worked its way through floor length kaftans and high waisted bikini bottoms.
As the show reached a glamorous finale, Camilla paraded out with her team of tribal goddesses, with each piece stunningly intricate and vibrant. The collection overall reached a wide audience, as she went from tribal to neutral in an instant. We are betting that Camilla’s show comes out as one of the most entertaining for the whole of RAFW.
