Google have released its annual report, Google Zeitgeist, spilling the beans on what we’ve been searching in 2013, and the results show some fascinating insights on what grabbed our attention during the year. The results are calibrated by assessing the search terms that had the biggest annual gain on the year before — in other words, they’re based on Google trends for the year rather than the numbers of searches. Globally, three of the four queries with the biggest rises were triggered by deaths, and another three in the top ten related to new gadgets and gizmos.
Locally the results were fairly similar to world wide, but notably reality TV took out three of the top ten spots. Somewhat surprisingly, Paul Walker take a top spot in Australia, the UK, and the United States, despite Nelson Mandela being the most searched item globally.
